Designing for Health

For a planet without chronic diseases – why we're building Aware

Our mission: To unlock the power of data to guide you to better health

The future of healthcare is preventive and personalized

We all understand the basics of a healthy life: Eat well, exercise, and get enough sleep. Nowadays, we also have smartwatches and health trackers that monitor all of our digital markers, but still, most of us have no idea what’s actually happening inside of our bodies.

A couple of years ago, one of our founders, Flo, got his first full health checkup. The process was long, the wait nerve-wracking, and the results were analog, indecipherable, and incoherent. He still runs around with a manila envelope containing paper printouts of his various results. We realized, that it was time to rethink how people manage and think about their own health.

Aware was born of that experience and similar ones that we have all encountered over the years. Our biomarkers tell the story of our well-being. Unfortunately, most of us can’t speak this medical language. With Aware, we want to make health checks personalized, digitized, fast, affordable, and user-friendly.

Our mission is to unlock the power of your health data and give you control over your personal health journey.

One in three adults will deal with a chronic condition in their life and we will spend a whopping $47tn globally by 2030 to treat them. A one-size-fits-all approach will not be enough to combat the rising rates of illness we are facing. Unfortunately, our current healthcare system is more geared towards treating diseases that have already occurred, instead of nipping them in the bud. That’s where we want to come in.

Personalized and data-driven healthcare is the future of medicine, and we believe the first steps towards that future are based on regular blood tests and tailored health checkups. By normalizing these tests and making the results understandable and transparent, we want to help create a future where people lead longer and healthier lives. With Aware, we want to empower you to take charge of your health and detect diseases before they impact your life. We are committed to co-create a 21st-century healthcare system – one that is proactive, transparent, inclusive, digitized, secure by design, and personalized.

Join our private beta and get a comprehensive health check

In March, we're launching our private beta to give you easy access to comprehensive health checks. By digitizing these checkups from the ground up, we are leveraging the power of blood tests and biomarkers to give you a full picture of your health based on your own unique data.

With one simple click, you can book a blood draw appointment in our lab, get tested, and receive a personalized health report in the Aware app within 24h and then retest in 3 to 6 months with our subscription to track your progress over time. While one test will give you a detailed snapshot of your current health, continuing testing provides a clear reflection of your long-term trends and patterns.

If you are interested in making more informed health choices, sign up for our beta waitlist. In addition, we offer company-wide Aware health days to spread well-being across entire organizations.

Announcing our seed financing

To put these plans into motion, we are thrilled to announce that we have raised $15M in seed financing to back our mission. This round was led by Oliver Heimes at Lakestar, Filip Dames at Cherry Ventures, and David Rosskamp at June Fund/Magnetic with participation from prominent angel investors and healthcare experts Katharina Jünger (Teleclinic), Simon Bolz (Klara), Florian Otto (Cedar), Manuel Grossmann (Amino Collective), Naren Sham (Omio), Lucas Cranach (Onefootball), Christian Reber (Pitch), Christophe Maire (Atlantic Labs), Timo Meyer (Shio Capital), Jan Wilmking (Project Eaden) and Massimo Portincaso (Deepwave).

Today we are giving you access to your health data so you can use it to make informed decisions about the way you live your life. Tomorrow we will build Europe’s largest health database for personalized medicine. This data-driven approach will contribute to medical research, and has the potential to discover new insights and unlock new treatment options for millions of people.

Join us on this journey as we work towards a planet without chronic diseases, one health check at a time.

Stay hydrated,

Flo, Ferdi, Ramz
